It is normal for all aspects of a person’s life to be affected when they are diagnosed with a life threatening illness and living with grief. While illness can affect how a person lives, often there is much that can be done to improve one’s comfort and wellbeing. Hospice offers holistic support to the whole person and family through our counselling and wellness programs. Our goal is to support you and your family to get the information and resources you need to make informed decisions about your care. We will also advocate to help you and your family to get the support you need. Family includes relatives, partners and friends. Hospice promotes quality of life, living well and relief from pain and discomfort.
Whether you are looking for information, resources or counselling to help you with grief and we have the programs to meet your needs.
Our bereavement supports include one to one counselling, wellness activities, support groups, educational workshops, and social groups. Many people find that being with others with shared lived experience, compassion and understanding can help ease the pain of grief and help them adjust to life without their loved one. We encourage you to check out the website to identify resources and programs that meet your needs or to reach out to one of our counselors to learn more.
If you are looking for support, counselling, or education about children’s grief, our HUUG (Help Us understand Grief) team is here to help. HUUG provides support for children and youth (aged 0 to 18) who are facing the dying or death of a loved one. The HUUG program was created specifically to address the impact of grief on family. The HUUG team is dedicated to giving grieving children and youth a voice and to advocate for.
