Day Program
FUN, FELLOWSHIP AND FOOD ... that is at the HEART of the Circle of Friends group
that meets one afternoon a week .
Who can attend?
Open to anyone, over 18 years, who resides in Mississauga or Brampton, and is living
with a life-threatening illness. He/she must be mobile, cognitive and responsible
for personal care needs, including medication. All clients must be referred by one
of our
Hospice Care Coordinators
and assessed by the Day Program Coordinator before joining the Circle of Friends.
What is the purpose?
To provide an opportunity for clients to focus on fun and fellowship through life-enriching
activities in a relaxed, caring and confidential environment. A retreat from the
challenges of illness.
What happens at the Circle of Friends?
Clients meet with other clients, professional staff and warm-hearted, trained
volunteers who provide
a variety of social and therapeutic activities. All activities are optional and
vary according to the interests of the clients.
These activities may include:

Cards, board games, puzzles

Crafts, painting, knitting

Simple woodworking projects

Sing songs/piano playing
-
Opportunity for quiet chats/companionship

Birthday celebrations

Cultural events
-
Special events/lunches

Guest speakers/entertainers

Music Therapy

Relaxation Techniques

Opportunity for Spiritual Reflection
