The goal of our Health & Wellness Program is to support the individuals and families in our community who wish to die at home or remain at home as long as medically possible. Pain and symptom management is primarily addressed with medication and medication interventions. Heart House Hospice is offering complementary therapy programs that address the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual wellness as an additional intervention to these traditional methods. Many times physical pain is exacerbated by emotional and psychological stress. Alternative therapies and spiritual support are often effective in addressing this existential distress.
The Health & Wellness Program provides support through an array of noninvasive complementary therapies: These therapies include Therapeutic Touch®, Reiki, and Aromatherapy with relaxation massage and guided imagery.
Spa Days at Heart House Hospice office

We would like to acknowledge the Ontario Trillium Foundation’s (OTF) support of this initiative. As the leading grant-making foundation in Canada, the OTF strengthens the capacity of the voluntary sector through investments in community-based initiatives. An agency of the Government of Ontario, OTF builds healthy and vibrant communities: www.otf.ca.
Heart House Hospice is also grateful to the Baxter International Foundation, for providing pilot funding to this program.
Heart House Hospice programs are offered at no cost to the individuals and families. We receive partial funding from the government but to bridge the gap, we must raise $437,200 each year relying on the generosity of corporations, foundations, community minded citizens, service clubs and special events. Contact Lisa Hoekstra if you are interested in supporting Heart House Hospice.
